Watch: IAS officer Tina Dabi scolds shopkeepers during cleanliness drive in Barmer

A video of IAS officer Tina Dabi reprimanding shopkeepers during a cleanliness inspection drive in Rajasthan’s Barmer has gone viral on social media.
Dabi, who was appointed District Collector of Barmer earlier this month, conducted a cleanliness assessment with administrative staff earlier this week to evaluate the city’s sanitation efforts.
While walking around Kisan Market, she was furious upon witnessing the dirty surroundings outside several shops.
Enraged, Dabi schooled several shopkeepers, saying that garbage should not be disposed of in front of the shops.
“Don’t throw garbage in front of the shop; otherwise, I will get the shop closed. I will come again to check. There should be a dustbin in front of every shop. No one should feel ashamed of cleaning in front of their shop,” Dabi said in Hindi while spreading awareness about cleanliness.
Several shopkeepers, soon after, were seen cleaning the area with brooms.

Under the ‘Navo Barmer’ campaign that she introduced, Tina Dabi has been inspecting several areas in the city as officials have been instructed to observe strict rules regarding cleanliness.
Tina Dabi topped the UPSC examination in her first attempt in 2015, achieving the first rank at just 22. She received her first posting as District Collector in Jaisalmer, and has now been given the command of Barmer, near the Indo-Pak border.
